"loaner" uniform from the physical education department. Extra
credit is available on the following link;

earn an extra 2 points per week.

Fitness Gram
|
The
new state required fitness test called
Fitness Gram
measures five components of physical fitness which have been
identified as being important because of their relationship to
overall health and fitness. The five components are:
-
Aerobic Capacity
-
Body Composition
-
Muscular Strength
-
Muscular Endurance
-
Muscular Flexibility
All
students will be instructed in the appropriate technique for each of
the required test items. Also with the new SB78 law all students
will now be required by law to pass five areas before graduating from high
school.

Physical
Education Excuses |
Students may be excused from physical education for up to three days
with a signed/dated note from a parent/guardian. If the note
does not read two or three days, we will assume that it is a
one day excuse.
To be excused from physical education for a
longer period of time, students must bring a note from a doctor.
If their physical condition allows it, they will be required to
dress out for physical education and report to roll call. They
may lose points during the medical excuse, but can make up these
points at one of the 4 make ups.
Make-ups
are
at the end of each Grading period so that students can make-up any
missed run they may have missed due to an absence or medical excuse. Also students who have acquired
2 or more
Loaners will need to go to P.E. Make-ups.

P.E. UNIFORMS |
|
ALL STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO DRESS IN P.E. CLOTHES
DAILY
A
uniform is required in Physical Education and it consists of a Mesa Verde
Shirt and Shorts, socks, and athletic
shoes(laced tightly). This uniform with the exception of shoes and
socks, must be purchased from the Mesa Verde P.E.
Department. Due to numerous dress code violations and thefts
only Mesa Verde Shorts are allowed! The short length this
year will be strictly enforced at "no shorter than arms
length". Sweats may be purchased elsewhere, as long as they do
not have zippers, pockets, or snaps. Also hats and sunglasses are
not allowed in Physical Education classes for safety reasons. Students will also need to purchase a combination lock from the
Mesa Verde P.E. Department. It is important that students do not
purchase locks elsewhere. If there is an emergency, teachers need to
be able to access all lockers with their master key.
Price List
-
P.E. Shirts $12.00
-
P.E. Shorts $15.00
-

Insurance |
Physical education classes and after school sports activities can be
very rigorous and accidents occasionally occur. Because of this,
parents are strongly encouraged to purchase personal injury
insurance for your son/daughter. The Poway Unified School
District is not liable for any accidents that may occur during a
school related activity. Insurance Information is included in the first day packet or can be
picked up in the counseling office.
