Exploring Technology is a hands-on modularized laboratory course that allows students to learn transferable skills and concepts necessary in our highly technological society. This exploring technology class has a variety of different activities available. Each activity is assigned to provide students with a core area of language arts, math, science, history, social science, and visual arts. The students are arranged onto cooperative learning groups of two or three. Self- directed instructions for completion of a unit require a minimum of five class periods of interaction with a particular technology. The first 2 weeks will be an introduction to technology. Objectives
The next 15 weeks will be hands on modularized laboratory work. Each unit consists of individualized learning modules appropriate to the technology under study. In each module the students will experience real life problems and have to solve them using tools, machines, devices, and processes common in our industrial society. Students are at the center of all learning activities; reading and following written instructions is critical in each unit. The final week of class will be used to finish class competitions, test bridges, view student video's, etc. A final exam will be given.
