Bookmark Assignment:
Phase I
- Open the schedule assignment
you have on geocities. Use the "View" menu and then the
"Source" choice to see the code.
- After "Notepad" has
opened and displays the code, do a "Save as" in notepad to save
the code. You need to save this code in your folder on the school server and
the file name must end with a .htm. If you do not include the .htm, you will
not have the code you need. You may have already done this for the
table assignment earlier.
- Start the web design
software, Front Page.
- Using FrontPage, open the htm
file you just finished saving.
- Find a word on the first line
of the class description that is unique to that paragraph and the other
paragraphs.
- Highlight the unique word and
then select Bookmark from the Insert menu.
- The word you have used to
insert a bookmark is the method you will use manipulate your way through the
rest of the web page.
- Go to the class name or the
teachers name and highlight it. Right click on the highlighted word or words
and select the Hyperlink choice.
- From the book mark menu,
choose the word that applies to the word in the paragraph that describes the
class you wrote about.
- Click OK or press Enter.
If you were able to follow these
instructions, you should be able to go to the preview tab at the bottom screen
in Front Page to see what effect will occur because of the book mark and the
hyperlink. If you are successful, repeat the process for the rest of the
seven paragraphs you wrote.
If you want to see how one works go
to the school
calendar and click on a month.
Phase II - Challenge Assignment
- Figure out a way to use
bookmarks to get to the top of the page without the scroll bar after each
paragraph.
When finished. Save. Go to
geocities and upload the new file. Send me a message with a link to the new
page.
