Our player of the week is “Two Monkeys Short of a Barrel”, ace ball player for the Palenque Panthers, seen here sporting the latest chapeau from this year’s dazzling Copan Collection. Not only is he a snappy dresser and bon vivant, but he is considered by many, in the know, to be a “shoe in” for this year’s coveted Cizin Cup. “Two Monkeys” was quoted at a recent press conference with the quip, “ Well, you know, we all just go out there and give it 110% every time and I think the team is playing real strong and we haven’t had many injuries and we’ve been real lucky and we’re going to continue to go out there and give110%.” Panther’s head coach, “Two Quetzals in a Pear Tree”, seemed to share in the enthusiasm by predicting that “Two Monkeys” and the team could go all the way this season, if they just, “don’t lose their heads”.

In a related story, construction on the new downtown stadium was halted yet again when a protest group filed a law suit charging that the gods would be angered if the game were moved from the old site and it would cost too much maize anyway. City fathers said that they were relieved to hear of the group’s interest in pleasing the gods and voted unanimously to place the entire protest group on the program for next week’s sacrifice.

That's all the news we have time (and the stomach) for tonight. Good night Mr. and Mrs. Mesa Verde and all the ships at sea.
