Here's
the Story
Before you know it, you will be selecting a college and deciding on
what career path you will want to follow. Though the job that you will have may not
have been invented yet, it is not too early to find out what direction you may be heading.
Think about
What career you would enjoy the most, and feel that you could make
the greatest contribution?
Exploring the Web
Before you begin, do the "Work
Environments" worksheet. When you have finished it, Write the names of the
categories above the
paper. (They are linked here as Word documents.)
Then go to the Career Interests Game website.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the category that fits you best.
Read the sections titled "CAN YOU", "LIKE TO"
and "HOBBIES". Does this still sound like a description of you?
If it really doesn't look at the other categories, and change if you need to.
Skim the list of careers listed on this page. Research at
least 5 of them and record the following information: (You could make a chart in
word.)
- Name of career
- Brief description of the job
- Education or training required
- Job outlook
- Earnings
- Where to get more information
If you can't find the careers that you would like, try Occupational
Outlook Handbook
