Dear 4th/5th grade students, Welcome to rooms 27and 28. Soon you will be back at school. We have your desks with your books on top all ready in rooms 27 and 28. We have two classrooms because we are a combo class. Mrs. Knorr is in room 28 and Mrs. Oberem is in room 27. You can check our list of supplies to see what things to bring to class, and if you want to know what we will do each day, read the daily schedule page. We have many things planned, and we expect a good year. You probably have lots of questions about how things work in a combo class. We will try to answer a few before school even begins. To begin with, lunch and recess are at the same time for 4th and 5th grade this year, so you will always have lunch and recess together with your friends from the other classes. Mrs. Knorr will be in charge of math and science until 11 a.m., and Mrs. Oberem will be in charge of computer activities, language arts and writing until the end of the day. We will both do social studies, art, music and P.E. We will also have an impact teacher who will help with 4th grade math and 5th grade language arts. You will hear more about our impact teacher once school has begun. Our impact teacher will spend a lot of time with us because we are a combo class. One great thing about a combo class is that our class sizes for math and language arts are smaller than the other grades. When Mrs. Knorr teaches 5th grade math in room 28, the impact teacher will teach 4th grade math in room 27. Language arts will be the same. While Mrs. Oberem teaches 4th grade language arts in room 27, the impact teacher teachers 5th grade language arts in room 28. We will all be together for things such as library, P.E., literature, art and computer lab. Mrs. Oberem has lots of great ideas for things we will do in the computer lab. Start practicing your keyboard skills! We have a class handbook for you to learn about how things are done in our classrooms, and particularly in 4th and 5th grade. Questions such as what you will get for homework, field trip rules and how much reading you need to do every month are all answered in the handbooks. Click on this link to see the 4th Grade Handbook and this link for the 5th Grade Handbook. Bring any more questions with you to school and we will answer them for you. We are looking forward to meeting each one of you. Enjoy the last of vacation, and we will see you on the first day of school. See you soon, Mrs. Oberem and Mrs. Knorr |
