Homework Policy and Schedule

Join us as a partners in the homework process

We encourage everyone to establish a routine whereby your child does homework at the same quiet place at the same time each day.

Students are given time daily to write homework assignments in their binder reminders at school. Please will you check and sign it at home every day. Your signatures tell us your child read the required 25 pages for the day and followed through with work such as multiplication practice. Your signature is important for letting us know it was done.

Hhomework assignments will be posted in Learning Point every day so that if anyone needs to check on assignments it is available.

Students highlight missed homework assignments in their binder reminders and have to work on them during recess. If they don't finish, it is taken home for homework again.

Homework is only assigned Monday through Thursday, and the following three assignments are guaranteed to occur every homework day:

1. Read 25 pages Books need to be at appropriate Lexile levels. We need a daily signature from a supervising adult in the student's binder reminder to confirm that the reading was done. (Yes, a missing signature is counted as a missing homework assignment!) 4th grade check Rocket Into Reading for genre of the month.

2. Math - worksheet every day.

3. Practice multiplication for daily speed test - 4th grade. Students should write in their binder reminders which speed test they are currently working towards. Once again, we need your signature to confirm that your child practiced multiplication. That missing signaure signals a missing homework assignment.

Other assignments may include completing work not finished in class, studying for upcoming tests and preparing for a presentation.

Thursday is an important day - Friday Folders need to be checked and signed and returned to school on Friday. (Yet another signature - thank you, thank you!) We check Friday Folders every Friday.

Keep those happy signatures coming in!
