Dear Parents

We have found that a binder is an essential item for students to be succesful in school. Students in our class will use one binder for everything and it will be in constant use at school. It will also go home every day for homework assignments and return to school the following day.

Having an organized binder is an important part of helping students organize, find and transport materials to and from school with more ease. Students with well organized binders find school easier because they can quickly find their notes to study from to prepare for tests and they can find their homework papers on the day they are due. We will be working with students in class to help them set up and organize their binders. We will label dividers and set up our binders for a succesful and orderly school year.

Since the use of the binder will assist your child in completing homework, you could help in the following ways:

  1. Check to be sure that your child brings his or her binder home each evening.
  2. Find a special place to put the binder and other special materials
  3. When homework is completed, help your child to put assignments behind the appropriate divider and organize these materials to take back to school.
  4. Remind your child to take his or her binder back to school each day.
  5. Occasionally, help your child straighten up his or her binder and add blank notebook paper. Please never take the responsibility on yourself to clean out your child's binder. This is a skill your child needs to learn.
  6. Periodically look at your child's work behind each divider.
  7. Compliment your child on the organization of his or her binder.

Thank you for your cooperation in assisting your child in being more organized. The acquisition of these skills are certain to make your child more successful in school.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Knorr and Mrs. Oberem
