Veterans Day extra credit assignment
Get in touch with a veteran. (someone who has served in the military in any capacity...service during wartime is not a prerequisite) They can be a relative, friend or someone you contact through the local VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) or American Legion post. They can also be a veteran from another country.
Conduct an interview. You can transcribe your conversation or record it...up to you. Your interview should have at least five questions that you prepare beforehand.
samples-- Where were you stationed? What were your duties? What is your most memorable experience? Would you recommend military service to today's youth? What would you think about a new draft? Stay away from extremely personal questions unless you are very close to this person.
Most of all, make this a meaningful experience for yourself. In other words, just don't do it for the points.
