Recommendation
procedures—
Howdy,
Ok, here are the guidelines to help us both get through
the college application nightmare J
- When you drop off your recs, please include some
background info. Particularly information about your performance in
APUSH. Obviously I will remember how well you did in class, however,
certain details may have slipped my old mind: semester event topic and
grade, favorite project you performed outstanding on, exam grade etc.
Also include due dates for your applications.
- Please limit the number of requests to three.
Included in this is the teacher input form for the counseling
department. Best rule of thumb for this is if you ask for a letter of
rec, go to another teacher for the teacher input form.
- Have the information on the forms filled out.
Name, addresses, signatures, etc.
- Please include self-addressed, stamped envelopes,
unless you are using online requests (Naviance).....see below.
- You will also be using Naviance through the
counseling department. This very helpful and uses an online
application process...(we did this with the College Knowledge project
after the AP Exam.) If you are using Naviance, please stop by and
tell me that I am doing this online... don't, don't, don't just assume
the teacher input function on Naviance will set you up for a letter of
rec.
- The earlier, the better. You would be surprised
how many requests your teachers get for recommendations. Don’t wait
until the last minute to get the to your teachers. November gets crazy.
- Brownies, brownies, brownies!!!
Good luck….lewis
