Nevada

THe Following Pictures are from an Interactive Field Trip Taken in December of 1995.  The Las Vegas Area has changed dramatically in that time due to tremendous rates of growth in the decade or so since this trip, but many of the features shown here are still similar in appearance in their present state.

Miles of flat scrubland greet visitors about to cross the California state line into Nevada.  In an effort to curb late night accidents on lonely stretches of desert highway, the ruts in the asphalt at the side of the road are used to jar drivers awake if they should suddenly doze off behind the wheel and begin to drift out of their lane.
