What Is a DocuCam?
A DocuCam is a digital projector that allows the teacher to project whatever is under it from a tabletop onto a screen in the front of the classroom. This allows the teacher to demonstrate close-up work to the whole class at once in a way that what is happening is visible to everyone in the classroom.
Because the image is being digitally captured, it can also be recorded and posted on the teacher's Web site too, so that kids can watch the demonstration again at a later date. The DocuCam can also capture for future storage and retrieval (for a Web site or a future classroom lesson) notes, drawings or other items that were used in class that day.
- Teachers can easily store, retrieve, and share notes, experiments, and demonstrations
- Use it to demonstrate writing technique, art, science experiments, geometry, and a host of other items.
- Classmates can share classroom notes and presentations
- Students can easily see close-up lessons done via the large projected image on the screen.

Although this particular DocuCam may not be the one we choose to use at Westwood,
this video gives a very good idea of its capabilities as a teaching tool.
