Westview
School Site
Council
What is School Site Council?
Westview receives
special financial support in a category called the “School Improvement Program”,
or “SIP”. This is a significant source of funding, and it comes with a
requirement that all budget planning and expenditures be monitored and approved
by a School Site Council.
This group is responsible for reviewing the school's
improvement plan and allocating fiscal resources to support Westview's goals in the areas of curriculum development and
instruction.
The State Legislature believes that the best decisions
are made by those individuals who are most affected by them. Therefore, the
School Site Council consists of elected members representing parents, teachers,
students, the school principal, and other school employees, each of whom serve a
2-year term.
The council meets approximately 6 times during the year, and meetings take place on Tuesdays from 3:30–4:30 pm in the Principal’s Conference Room.
As a thriving learning
community, Westview upholds its vision of creating an environment where
shared decision-making is an integral component of achieving high academic
and personal standards.
