String Orchestra

Orchestra (String Ensemble) is designed for the string instrumentalist (violin, viola, cello, string bass).  Activities include preparation for the Solo & Ensemble Festival, development of musicianship Quarter I and II, and orchestra performances Quarter III and IV at festivals and concerts.  Orchestra offers the student of instrumental music an opportunity to further develop musical skills and to broaden the musical experience through rehearsal and performance.  Course of study includes basic music theory, notation, musical form, ear training, and improvisation.  This is a performance class, and students are expected to participate in all band activities.  This course may be used to meet the UC/CSU “F” or “G” requirement and the PUSD Fine Arts requirement.
