Concert Band II

Concert Band II (formally known as Freshman Band) is a course for new students to Westview. Activities include marching band Quarter I (students receive Marching Band credit), preparation for the Solo & Ensemble Festival, development of musicianship Quarter II, and band performances Quarter III and IV at festivals and concerts. Concert Band II offers the student of instrumental music an opportunity to further develop musical skills and to broaden their musical experience through rehearsal and performance. Course of study includes basic music theory, notation, musical form, ear training, and improvisation. This is a performance class, and students are expected to participate in all band activities. This course may be used to meet the UC/CSU “F” or “G” requirement and the PUSD Fine Arts requirement.
