Commander Jordan is a 1982 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!!) and entered Aviation Officer Candidate School in March 1983.   After receiving his Naval Flight Officer wings in August 1984 he attended initial training for the F-4 Phantom II with VMFAT-101 Sharpshooters at MCAS Yuma, AZ.   Commander Jordan joined the VF-161 Rock Rivers, onboard the USS Midway (CV-41), in May 1985 and was quickly underway to the Western Pacific/ Indian Ocean.

 

            Following VF-161ís transition to the F/A-18 Hornet, Commander Jordan transitioned to the F-14 Tomcat and joined the VF-124 Gunfighters at NAS Miramar for initial training.   Commander Jordan did squadron tours with VF-194 Legendary Red Lightnings, VF-2 Bounty Hunters, VF-201 Hunters (two tours) and VF-301 Devilís Disciples.   Commander Jordan logged nearly 2500 hours in fighter aircraft and had 400 arrested landings on nine different aircraft carriers.

           

            Commander Jordanís shore tours include Naval Air Reserve Jacksonville, Naval Air Reserve North Island, Commander Naval Air Pacific and Navy Operational Support Center North Island.  Commander Jordan retired after 24 years of service in November, 2007.

 

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) along with various unit and campaign awards.  Commander Jordan and his wife Susan reside in San Diego and have three daughters, Gretchen, Lisa and Kelly and two grandkids, Kody and Ava.
