Welcome to Westview PTSA!

Mock College Tests

Mock testing is an opportunity for students to take a full length mock SAT or mock ACT.  Please remember these mock test experiences are NOT official test administrations.

Taking a mock SAT or mock ACT is a valuable exercise that can help to increase a student’s performance on the actual SAT or ACT. Westview PTSA has teamed up with Revolution Prep to offer students the opportunity to take a mock SAT or mock ACT, which will include a complete mock exam including an essay. All sections of the mock exam will then be graded by Revolution Prep.

Once students register for a mock exam by calling Revolution Prep, they will be emailed a 6-digit ID number which they will need to bring with them to the mock exam and also use to retrieve their score reports online approximately 10 days following the exam.

The next Mock SAT and Mock ACT will be held at Westview during fall 2009.

Parent/Student Session

Immediately following the testing, Revolution Prep hosts a same-day information session for parents and students. Parents join students for a test comparison workshop that gives a thorough overview of each college entrance exam and a test strategies workshop that covers Revolution test-taking strategies.

For those of you who cannot attend this event, you may contact Revolution at (877) 738-7737 to schedule a one-on-one phone score report consultation with one of our instructors.

Questions

Please contact Revolution Prep to register for the mock exam by calling toll-free 1-877-REV-PREP (738-7737).

What is mock testing and who should take the tests?
Westview PTSA and Revolution Prep Services are offering mock tests for SAT and ACT. These tests give students a chance to take tests, receive their scores, and learn valuable strategies to utilize before they take the real SAT and ACT tests. These tests do not get sent to colleges and give students a chance to get accustomed to standardized tests prior to taking actual exams.

We highly recommend all sophomores take the real PSAT given in October of each year (sign up is at registration in August). Then, in their sophomore and junior year they will be ready to take both the mock SAT and ACT so they are ready in their junior year to take the real tests.
If you have taken a mock SAT or ACT, please check with Revolution Prep Services to verify the test code. This will avoid receiving a test you have already taken!

SAT
• Four-hour test with sections in math (including geometry), reading comprehension, grammar and writing.
• Either an SAT or ACT score is required for admission to America’s four-year public and private colleges.
• Many schools will accept a student’s best score while others average multiple scores.
• Contrary to popular belief about standardized tests, you can study for the SAT! Revolution Prep Services students benefit from an average score improvement of 200+ points.

ACT
• Accepted in place of the SAT by every college.
• Includes a science section in addition to math, reading comprehension, grammar and writing (optional).
• Approximately 80% of students do equally well on either exam.
• Time permitting, students should take both a practice SAT and ACT, and dedicate themselves to the test they feel more confident with.

How do I sign up for mock tests?
1. Complete the registration form.

2. Make checks payable to "Westview PTSA". Checks are preferred. Payments
    are non-refundable.

3. Turn in your registration form to the Finance Office in an envelope marked
"Westview Mock Testing". Remember, no check - no registration. Space is limited.

What should I bring to the test?
Arrive at Westview early. Meet in the courtyard at 8:30am. Testing begins at
9:00am. Bring:
      1. Your student ID
      2. #2 pencils
      3.  Eraser
      4.  Calculator
You will be directed to the test-taking area. Testing is completed by 1:00pm.

What will I learn at the Results Workshop?
You will receive a detailed score report, computer-analyzed feedback on your test results pinpointing your individual strengths and needs, and learn test-taking strategies that will improve your score.

Remember, these are mock tests only.
