7th Annual Triathlon

On Monday, May 24 (girls), and Tuesday, May 25 (boys), 2010 about 1,000 Westview students will be participating in the 7th Annual Westview Triathlon.

The triathlon is a Westview Tradition for two reasons:

1.     It empowers students to live a healthy lifestyle by showing them that they actually
can do a triathlon. In addition, we hope that some students would want to pursue
other triathlon races as a means of living a healthy life.

2.     It acts as a fundraiser to allow us to expand our Exercise and Nutritional Science (ENS)
Department program so we can offer classes and equipment that are interesting to the
students and that support the vision of the
ENS Department.

No more kickball and dodge ball? It's not just gym class anymore; it's physical education, and it's targeting childhood obesity. Read more...

Program of the Year Recognition

In 2005, the Westview ENS Department was recognized as the “California High School Physical Education Program of the Year.”

While we are proud to have received such honors, rising obesity and inactivity levels illustrate a need to further the services we offer our students.

It is our vision to offer students a relevant, exciting and motivating exposure to attaining/maintaining a healthy lifestyle by offering students a wide range of physical activities.

To accomplish this, we must offer classes that are of interest to students and purchase the necessary equipment to facilitate the 1,600 students that we service each school year.
