Focus Pillar:
Trustworthiness

We are currently celebrating trustworthiness. Specifically, we are emphasizing that to be trustworthy, you must:

  • Be honest

  • Don’t deceive, cheat or steal

  • Be reliable ~ do what you say you’ll do

  • Have the courage to do the right thing

  • Build a good reputation

  • Be loyal ~ stand by your family, friends and country

One way we emphasize the six pillars of character at Turtleback is by giving students a Turtle Card when we “catch” them exemplifying excellent character. These are very coveted pieces of paper. If your child earns one, he or she will bring the Turtle Card home for you to discuss, celebrate, sign and return to school. We recognize several Turtle Card winners each week over the morning announcements. Students whose names are called may earn a popsicle party, free play with the principal (see the hula hoop photo above), or another special treat.
If you would like to see Character Counts! in action, please join the entire student body for our monthly Friday Flag ceremony. The whole campus will be celebrating trustworthiness on Friday, October 6 around 8:15 a.m. by the flagpole.
