Lunch Info

Students can bring a lunch from home or purchase one at school. There are three ways to pay for your student's lunch:

  1. By cash or check made out to PUSD Food and Nutrition. Please write the student's first and last name and PIN (if known) in the memo section of the check and place payment in one of the prepaid lunch envelopes available in the office.
  2. By credit card at MyLunchMoney.com. You must know your student's Identification Number to fund the account. The Identification Number is a 7 digit number, which you get by adding a "1" in front of their lunch line PIN. For example, if the PIN they enter is 234567, the id number is 1234567. (This is also the id number that you'll see on school records.) A $1.95 transaction fee will be added to each credit card payment made online. Multiple student accounts may be funded with one transaction.
  3. Students may also bring in cash to buy lunch, but the above methods are preferred.

How do I find out what my student's lunch line PIN/ID number is?

Your student's ID number appears on official school documents such as grade reports. Students use the last six digits of their ID number as the lunch line PIN. (The first number will be a "1"). "). If you can't locate your student's ID number, stop in the office and they'll be happy to give it to you.

What if my student has no lunch?

The cafeteria will supply lunch in case of forgotten money or lunch. Please remember to bring your student's account current the next day. The student will be referred to the office on the 4th occurrence, and parents will be contacted.

What's the deal with MyLunchMoney.com?

MyLunchMoney provides an easy way to keep track of your student's lunch account. Your MyLunchMoney account can be set up to email you reminders when the account's balance is low. You can also check your student's spending history online. After signing up for an account at MyLunchMoney, parents can view the balance and last 7 days of purchase history for their students' accounts. Accounts can be funded online with Visa or Mastercard and will be subject to $1.95 transaction fee. Money paid by check or cash to the PUSD Food and Nutrition Department will also show up in the student's balance on MyLunchMoney, so parents can take advantage of the benefits of MyLunchMoney without incurring the transaction fee.

How will I know when my student's account balance is low?

The Food and Nutrition Department is implementing a new "School Messenger" calling service this year that will place an automated phone call to notify you that your student's balance is negative. Our Food Service Assistants will notify your child when they have a low balance or you can contact the Food and Nutrition office at (858) 668-2570 for account balance information. If you've signed up with MyLunchMoney, make sure that you've enabled low balance notifications in "Edit Account". You will then receive an email notification when the balance drops below $5.00.

Is milk included with lunch?

Yes, one carton of milk is included in the $2.00 purchase price. Additional milk or juice may be purchased separately.

What if my child can't drink milk?

Juice may be substituted for milk at no extra cost by filling out a Medical Statement to Request Special Meals. Please note that this form requires the signature of a health professional. Submitting this form is the only way that your student can substitute juice for milk and still be charged only the $2.00 lunch price.

What if my child has other dietary restrictions?

Please call the Food and Nutrition Department. A Medical Statement to Request Special Meals will be required.

What if there's money left in the lunch account at the end of the school year?

Any money left in accounts at the end of the school year will be available for the next year and follows 5th grade students to middle school.

What if we change elementary schools or leave the district?

If your student is changing schools within the district, update the student info on MyLunchMoney, or, if not using MyLunchMoney, call the Food and Nutrition Department to have the account transferred to the new school. If your student leaves the district but has a remaining credit, please call the Food and Nutrition Department to make arrangements for a refund.
