BLAZER BULLETIN – August 17, 2009

POSTING PARTY:

Good afternoon Trailblazers! This Mrs. Venolia welcoming you to the 2009-2010 school year.  If you thought 2008-2009 was great – wait until you see what we have planned for this year!  We will be kicking off the year with a Posting Party hosted by our very own Stone Ranch PTA and Foundation.  The fun begins at 2:30 when kindergarten and incoming students will be able to take a self-guided tour of the campus.  From 3:00 to 3:30,  all kindergarten students are invited to meet their new kindergarten teachers and visit their new classrooms.  At 3:30, the Posting Party begins in the front of the school!  There will be delicious treats and fun for everyone as students prepare for the 4:00 posting of the classes.  We can’t wait to see you here!

SCHOOL CALENDAR:

Don’t forget that school begins on Thursday, August 20th.   Kindergarten students will have 14 days of “early release” with dismissal each day (including Wednesday 8/26, 9/2, and 9/9) at noon.  Beginning on September 10th, kindergarten students will begin their full day program.  Wednesdays are early dismissal days for Trailblazers.  Please make sure you’re here to pick them up at 12:30.  Don’t forget to check the Supply Lists on our website for requested school supplies.

NEW WEBSITE

The Stone Ranch Foundation is excited to launch their NEW website at www.stoneranchfoundation.org.  Please take a “tour” and take advantage of the many features added for your convenience.  Whether you want to make a donation, volunteer, find out about upcoming events, read what is going on with the Foundation, or just simply browse the website – everything is just a click away.

HELPING TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE:

Start off the new school year with a community service project for Kids Korps 2009/2010! The first week of school we will be collecting all your old BACKPACKS from last year, don’t throw those away! These will be donated to “Stand Up For Kids” which is an outreach project for at risk teens. We are also collecting reams of paper for our school. With the severe budget cuts, this paper will be distributed to all the teachers and help offset the lack of funding. Please consider filling those backpacks with paper! You can place these items in a bin outside the office. Backpacks will be picked up daily.  Also, a very special Thank You to all the Kids Korps reps who helped plan service projects in each of the classrooms last year. Your efforts were admirable and truly appreciated. You have done a lot to develop the “whole child” with activities they will remember for a lifetime. For more information regarding Kids Korps in the coming year, please contact Susan Wintersteen susan@savvyinteriors.com or go online to www.kidskorps.org

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT:

Mark your calendars and get a babysitter ready!  Back to School Night is Thursday, August 27th and is a parents only night where you will learn what to expect in your child’s classroom in the coming school year.  If your child is in grade 3 through 5, your Back to School Night begins at 5:30 and ends at 6:15, PTA and Foundation Kick Off Meeting with Prizes 6:15 to 6:30, and grade K through 2 classroom presentations are  6:30 to 7:15.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!  We’ll see you next Wednesday for the Posting Party and next Thursday for the first day of school!
