Rolling Hills Foundation

The Rolling Hills Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) California Corporation founded to work with Rolling Hills staff to select, develop and fund art, music and physical education instruction which meets California curriculum standards for all students at Rolling Hills during school hours.  All funds raised by the Foundation go directly to support Art, Music and PE instruction at Rolling Hills Elementary School.

Mission

The Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3), was founded by the PTA in September 2002 with the express goal and commitment to provide continual funding for Art, Music, and Physical Education programs to be implemented into the curriculum of Rolling Hills Elementary School. All three of these programs have been eliminated from the school’s budget. The on-going education in Music, the Arts, and PE, for all K-5th Grade children, will be of benefit to all, including the students and the surrounding community.

Foundation Programs

  • MUSIC:
The Foundation funds a credentialed music instructor (Mrs. Cheryl Quackenbush), who teaches music to all K-5th grade students including recorders to all 4th graders in preparation for 5th grade band.

  • ART:
The Foundation funds an art aide (Ms. Newton) who organizes parent volunteers to provide art to all K-5th grade students with the “Arts Attack” program.

  • PHYSICAL EDUCATION:
In 2004, the first PE program was developed and funded, called the Run Club, with every classroom participating in the “club”.  We will continue this program and expand it with the hiring and funding of a PE Aide to administer a PE curriculum for all children.

ALL OF THESE PROGRAMS ARE INTEGRATED INTO THE DAY DURING REGULAR SCHOOL HOURS SO THAT EVERY CHILD WILL BENEFIT FROM RECEIVING ART, MUSIC, AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION.

Fun Run Updates

Our Fun Run came up short of the $9,000 goal ($5,500.00 profit).  However, the Board approved the hiring of a PE Aide and Mrs. Joralemon started aiding our teachers with a structured PE curriculum on January 3, 2007.  The school received a grant from the State for PE and will be purchasing the full SPARK curriculum (http://www.sparkpe.org/programElementaryPE.jsp) and supplies for a complete PE program at Rolling Hills.

The Foundation is very proud to complete the last leg of our three goals (Art, Music and PE) in our 5th year.  Thanks to all the hard work of our parents and the community to support the Foundation’s efforts.  We hope that our parents and community sponsors can make additional donations to our PE program to fill the $3500 gap needed in the budget.
