Welcome to Rolling Hills ESS!

Program Overview

This extended-day program is the before and after school extension of each child's daily school experience. ESS is staffed by highly-qualified professionals and trained instructional assistants. The staff provides for the academic and social needs of children in safe and nurturing environments. There is time, space, and support for encouraging good study habits and positive social development.

Program Activities

The program is geared toward expanding each child's world through arts and crafts projects, physical activity, reading and language arts reinforcement, and math concept development. The program reinforces the social, motor, and academic skills children learn in the classroom. An opportunity is provided for children grades 1-5 to complete homework assignments.

Program History

The ESS program began in 1980 and is now offered in every elementary school in the Poway Unified School District. All children who attend elementary school in the District are eligible for enrollment.

Program Operations

The ESS program is a full time fee based program. ESS is not a drop in program and registration is required. Please stop by the ESS office to pick up a registration packet. Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. daily. Each child is allowed one week vacation credit during the school year and two weeks credit during the summer program. The centers are closed on the following holidays: Martin Luther King Day, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving (and the day after), Christmas (may be two days), and New Year's Day (may be two days). The programs are closed on ESS Professional Development days, as well.

Summer Program

An enriching summer program is offered. It includes numerous extended learning opportunities provided throughout the community. Field trips, special interest clubs, guest speakers, and special events may be scheduled. The summer program is offered to all students entering kindergarten through graduating fifth graders.
