California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)
The State of California requires that
all students beginning with the class of 2006 (current high
school seniors) pass the California High School Exit Exam
in order to receive a high school diploma. The exam has
two parts: English Language Arts and Mathematics.
This year the testing at RBHS will be
on March 21st and 22nd. All 10th grade students, and 11th/12th
grade students who have not yet passed, will take the test.
The testing will require a special bell schedule for the
entire week. (See right panel) On the test days there will
be tutorial for all 9th, 11th and 12th grade students while
the students are testing. Also, on March 21 and 22, the
buses will run their normal schedule of leaving at 2:30
with a late bus at 3:40. Thursday, March 23rd, will be periods
1-6 with school ending at 2:25.
The CAHSEE tests are untimed. Generally,
most of the students will be done between 2 and 2 1⁄2
hours.
Parents
are asked to please encourage their students to do
their very best on this test. All students
starting with the class of 2006 must pass the CAHSEE
in order to receive a high school diploma. The results are also used to
determine
if students are learning core knowledge as part of the federal “No
Child Left Behind” legislation, and, combined with STAR tests, as
part of the Academic Performance Index (API) for RBHS.
