September

  • Sept 20 - 7:45 am PAC, mandatory meeting for students applying to 4-yr colleges. CSU applications, transcripts, essay information
  • Register for SAT I/SAT II/ ACT
  • Finalize college list
  • Consider applying for Early Decision or Early Action
  • Begin a file for each college
  • Copy applications for your file.
  • Organize list of essays and outline or re-write
  • Obtain out of state & private school applications online or requesting by phone.
  • Sept 25 - ACT
October
  • Oct 4 - 7:45 am PAC – mandatory meeting for UC applications and personal statement information
  • Take SAT I or II – October 9
  • Work on college essays
  • Plan college visits and interviews (remember “thank-you” letter)
  • Take ACT - October 23
  • Check every month for scholarship opportunities in Bronco Center (list updated weekly)
  • Lunchtime workshops for questions and answers pertaining to college admissions – Bronco Center - Every Wednesday
  • Regular letters of recommendation with December 1st deadline due by October 31st
November
  • Nov 15 - Transcripts, recommendation requests for private schools due to Counseling Office
  • Nov 15 - 7:45 a.m. - PAC Financial Aid/Scholarship questions
  • Sat I or SAT II – November 6
  • Send Early Decision or Early Action applications
  • Submit secondary school/ counselor evaluation forms as soon as they arrive
  • Bronco Center extended hours - Nov 17 (4:30pm-6:30pm)
  • UC and CSU applications due by November 30
  • Lunchtime workshops for questions and answers pertaining to college admissions – Bronco Center - Every Wednesday
  • November 6th is the only date for SAT II language test with listening. You must bring a cassette recorder and headphones for the test.

  • ACT - December 11
  • SAT I or SAT II - December 4
  • Ask politely for teachers’ recommendations (submit stamped envelopes)
  • Finish applications for private & out of state schools
January
  • Fill out FAFSA (and Profile or other financial aid form) for private schools
  • Submit mid-year grade forms to Registrar’s Office
  • Financial Aid Night – January 4, 6:30pm in the PAC
  • Finals - January 25, 26, 27
  • SAT - January 22
  • Check to see that your spring semester schedule matches what you reported on college applications.
February
  • ACT - February 12
  • Give mid-year grade forms to Registrar
  • Check that college has received SAT I/SAT II/ACT results from testing agencies.
  • Check that colleges have all necessary financial aid papers
March
  • Some colleges respond!
  • Send any new material or information to colleges
  • Thank you notes to teachers who wrote recommendations for you
  • March 1 - last date to send FAFSA

  • Write “thanks, but no thanks” letter to colleges you will not attend
May
  • Make final decision - Send deposit by May 1
  • AP exams - May 2 - 13
  • Fill out dorm forms
