Advanced Dance

Advanced Dance is an accelerated class designed to explore dance from many vantage points. Choreography, dance history, interpretive qualities, and originality will complement the class. Performance of original choreographies will be mandatory. Elements of critiquing the art of dance will be refined. This course will meet the UC "F" requirement. It may also be taken for fine arts credit.

Beginning Tennis is a course in which students are taught forehand and backhand drives, use of the prescribed grip and swing, and the serve. Students are also taught the rules, etiquette, and strategy of tennis.

Freshman P.E. is designed for freshman students to introduce them to physical education at the high school level. During the freshman year the students will be exposed to six different activities, including one from each of the following: individual and dual sports, team sports, and fitness

Intermediate Basketball is a course for non-team players designed to increase the student's proficiency in the sport, refine fundamental skills, and teach more difficult techniques.

Intermediate Dance is designed to give those students with previous experience a chance to progress onto more challenging dance techniques. Choreography, vocabulary of dance, and elements of critiquing the art of dance will be included in the class. In addition, performances of choreographed and original dance routines will be mandatory.

Modern Dance is a course which teaches dance exercises and techniques, movement exploration, and elementary dance composition. This course meets the CSU Visual and Performing arts requirement for admission

Racquetball is a course in which students are taught the fundamental skills of three-wall racquetball, including the serve, forehand shots, backhand shots, and two and three-wall shots, as well as rules, court position, and game strategies

Volleyball/Softball

Volleyball/Softball is a course that concentrates on the basic elements of volleyball and softball. The rules and strategy of each game are covered in addition to skills tests and physical fitness. All volleyball activities are held on the outdoor sand volleyball court.

Weight Training is a course in which students are involved in the isotonic type of weight training. Emphasis will also be placed on cardiovascular fitness as well as strength and endurance activities

Health Science

Health Science presents a thorough study of modern people, major mental and physical health problems, and means for their control and/or prevention. Topics include infectious and chronic diseases, CPR/first aid, family living and human sexuality, nutrition/fitness, mental health, and substance abuse. Students will also receive instruction in developing good study skills
