GRADE POINT AVERAGE AND CLASS RANK - The computation is based on a marking
system of A, B, C, D, F with point values of 4, 3, 2, 1, 0,
with the exception of Advanced Placement courses
which are assigned point values of 5, 4, 3, 1, 0.
Physical Education, Work Experience, and School
Service grades are excluded from the computation.
The college recommending mark is C or above. The
passing grade is D.
COLLEGE ADMISSIONS -Typically over 93
percent of the graduates in the Rancho Bernardo High
School go on to higher education. Enrollment in fouryear
colleges and universities is 55 percent, and
slightly more than 38 percent enroll in two-year
colleges. Rancho Bernardo High School graduates
have been accepted to and attend most major colleges
and universities in the United States, including:

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA (UC) REQUIREMENTS
- The UC systems sets requirements under it's a-g program
in order to attend UC schools. They are as follows:
A: History / Social Science -Two years
required, including one year of U.S. history or one-half
year of U.S. history and one-half year of civics or American
Government; and one year of world history, cultures, and
geography.
B: English -Four years of college preparatory English that
include frequent and regular writing, and reading of classic
and modern literature.
C: Mathematics - Three years of college preparatory mathematics
that include the topics covered in elementary and advanced
algebra and two- and three-dimensional geometry.
E: Language other than English - Two years of the same language
other than English
F: Visual & Performing Arts - One year, including dance,
drama/theater, music, and/or visual art
G: College Preparatory Elective - In addition to those courses
required in "a-f" above, one year (two semesters)
of college preparatory electives are required, chosen from
visual and performing arts, history, social science, English,
advanced mathematics, laboratory science, and language other
than English.
CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY (CSU) REQUIREMENTS
- The CSU system sets requirements similar to the UC requirements
listed above. They are as follows:
The CSU requires a 15-unit pattern of courses
for admission as a first-time freshman. Each unit is equal
to a year of study in a subject area. A grade of C or higher
is required for each course you use to meet the subject
requirement.
Area Subject Years
A. History and Social Science (including
1 year of U.S. history or 1 semester of U.S. history and
1 semester of civics or American government and 1 year of
social science): 2 Years.
B. English (4 years of college preparatory
English composition and literature): 4 Years.
C. Math (4 years is recommended) including
Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, or higher mathematics (take
one each year): 3 Years.
D. Laboratory Science (including 1 biological
science and 1 physical science): 2 Years.
E. Language - other than English (2 years
of the same language; American Sign Language is applicable):
2 Years.
F. Visual and Performing Arts (dance, drama
or theater, music, or visual art): 1 Year
G. College Preparatory Elective (One more
year of any college preparatory subject): 1 Year
