I was born and raised in Southern California. I attended UCSD and SDSU. I majored in Physical Education and earned a teaching credential to teach Math or PE. I began coaching boy’s varsity water polo in 1986 (at Valhalla HS) and I just retired from coaching in 2007. I started my teaching career at USDHS in the fall of 1989. I taught and coached at USDHS for six years before coming to Poway High School. Since coming to PHS, I’ve coached boy’s water polo and boy’s and girls swim. My teams have won a collective 14 Palomar League championships and 3 CIF championships. I’m currently the Athletic Director (fourth year) and I teach Math or PE. I have also been involved with the bond construction project to rebuild PHS since its inception in the fall of 2004. I have been married for almost 25 years (April, 08) with 2 wonderful daughters. My wife, Peggy, is a professor of Economics at Southwestern Community College and Point Loma Nazarene College. My daughter Danielle, a PHS grad from 2004, is graduating from SDSU in Dec. 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. She will be entering the teaching credential program at SDSU in January of 2008 with the desire to teach Math at the high school level. Leah, 15, is attending Our Lady of Peace Academy where she is in her sophomore year. She is involved in cheerleading and doing well academically.
