Writing 1.1 Establish a controlling impression or coherent thesis that conveys a clear and distinctive perspective on the subject and maintain a consistent tone and focus throughout the piece of writing.
Writing 1.2 Use precise language, action verbs, sensory details, appropriate modifiers, and the active rather than the passive voice.
Writing 1.9 Revise writing to improve the logic and coherence of the organization and controlling perspective, the precision of word choice, and the tone by taking into consideration the audience, purpose, and formality of the context.
Students will improve their writing through revisions and careful choice of words to raise the level of sophistication in their writing
Understandingsstudents will understand that writing is a process. It is not linear. It takes time for ideas to formulate so that you can express those ideas clearly and logically. |

1. Students will ready the "Allegory of the Cave" by Aristotle.
2. In class discussion, they will discuss the allegory (extended Metaphor) of the cave. What is Aristotle trying to say. Pulling people from the darkness into the light. (the darkenss of ignorance into enlightenment)
3. Teacher will illicit responses from students on what is the meaning of the word educate.
a. comes for the latin educare = to lead out
4. Teacher will draw parallels between AoC and educate (educare)
a. compare other words i.e. conduct, Il Duce, deduct, ductile, duke, aquaduct, product, i.a.
