Peer Counseling

  • Peer Counselors meet every Thursday morning at 6:30 a.m. in room K-1.

  • Traci Barker-Ball is the advisor.

  • Peer Counselors attend two training retreats per year:  one before school begins in August and one at the end of the first semester.

  • Peer Counselors help with: handing out schedules each semester; working in the Titan Center and Student Services Office; being "buddies" with critical skills students; volunteering in the community; being mentors for younger students; tutoring; sponsoring and running PLUS (Peer Leaders Uniting Students); running "Keep the Peace" activities on late start Mondays; holding an appreciation luncheon for custodians; giving "kudos" to teachers; organizing special weeks on campus such as suicide prevention, eating disorders awareness, AIDS awareness, drug/alcohol prevention; working at special nights such as Back-to-School Night, College Night, Financial Aid Night; and many other things on campus that promote peace.

Applications for 2010 are available from November 2nd - 20th.  All student applicants must fill out an application, get teacher recommendations, and attend a group interview.  Click on link below to obtain more information.
