Library Computers

COMPUTERS IN THE LIBRARY

PART 1: Responsible Computer Use

The library has 90 computers for student use.  Teachers may send students on a pass or sign up their class to use the computers.  Unless you have a pass or are off-roll, you may not be in the library during class time.

The computers are for school related use. You and your parents sign yearly that you will follow the Student Internet Safety and Responsible Use guidelines while at school. In the library we ask that when using the computers you:

bullet

Play only educational, school assigned games.

bullet

Learning Point related chats are allowed; any other chat rooms and instant messaging are not.

bullet

No changing any of the screen settings (wallpaper, screen saver, resolution, etc.) .

bullet

No downloading of software or music files, etc. If you need software installed, let the library staff know.

Violation of these rules or any district guidelines may result in loss of computer privileges!

  • Students violating a rule initially will have their name placed on a list.
  • A second violation will result in a discipline referral and loss of library computer use.
Please note, library computers are monitored at all times.

PART 2: Helpful Hints for Computers in the Library

Printing:
The library has 2 laser printers; one black and white and one color. Printouts are 15¢ a page for black and white; 50¢ a page for color.

Click here for further printing instructions.

The library will loan students money for printing. This loan is expected to be paid back quickly. If repayment is an issue, please let the library staff know.

Novell Login:  Log On!  Each time you use a computer in the library, login to the Novell network.

Location: Student
Username: ID NUMBER
Password: 6 character birthdate (mmddyy)

Save documents to your Novell network folder.  Log off when you're done.

Diskettes: Diskettes can be purchased for 25¢ at the front desk.  Backup your work to your network folder--diskettes often get bent or damaged and aren't reliable.

CDs can be burned on the library computers, click on Nero in your Novell application launcher..

Flash Drives can be used in the front USB ports of each library computer.

Save Often!

That's our motto.  Save every minute--save before printing--save after each paragraph...  Library computers are on all day and are used heavily--save your work often (to your network folder) to avoid the tragedy of lost work from a frozen computer!
