Lost & Found

 

Please remind your students to check our lost and found located just outside the Welcome Center doors, our bins are over-flowing with clothing, lunch boxes and other assorted items; we also have several items left over from 6th Grade Camp in the office.  Any items not picked up by Friday, November 20th will be donated to charity.

Yearbook This year only happens once. Remember it forever. Together.  Our school’s yearbook is a great way to remember and share in your son or daughter's school experiences. School Dance-Hey Falcon Parents!  ASB would like to announce our first dance of the school year.  The theme for the dance is the Fall Ball and will take place on Thursday, November 12th from 3:05-5:00.  There will be a live DJ, games and a concession stand to buy pizza, drinks and snacks.  Tickets are on sale for just $5 starting Thursday, November 5th through Tuesday, November 10.  Tickets may be purchased at the Student Store.  Tickets will not be sold on the day of the dance.  You must sign the back of your child's dance ticket and they must have their OVMS ID badge to get in to the dance.  If you would like to volunteer to be a chaperone or work the concession stand please contact Coach Kenny at kdaum@powayusd.com.   

 

Technology Presentation

Parents Only Evening on Monday, November 16th from 6:30-8:00 in the MPR.    Denise Hogan, Student Specialist, is coming to Oak Valley and will give a presentation on the dangers and consequences of technology, such as texting, Myspace, Facebook etc. One of the video clips that will be shown to the students is the following:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOfp0aZxy4c&feature=related.   Please go to the PTSA website for an outline of the presentation.

 

Holiday Giving Tree

Oak Valley Middle School is reaching out to students and their families through the Holiday Giving Tree program. If you are able to help make a gift wish come true for an OVMS family in need this Holiday season, please stop in the office beginning November 16th to pick a gift tag off the tree which lists a specific wish list item. Nighthawk Football Invite

We want to welcome Oak Valley Middle School into the Del Norte High School Community by inviting your students to one or both of our last football games (11/6 & 11/13).  OVMS students with an ID will get in free with a paid adult. Go Nighthawks!

 

Active Parenting

“Divas, Designs & Desserts”

Divas, Designs, and Desserts to benefit the 4S Ranch/Del Sur Community Foundation on December 2nd promises to be an extraordinary evening of socializing, shopping and pampering! We are excited to give you a sneak preview of just a few of the spectacular vendors we will feature for over 300 attendees!

Divas will delight in many clothing, spa, accessory and retailers like:

Civil Disobedience, TRE, TresChic, CopyKats, Moda, NuSkin, Meltology, Zoko, Designs by Gina, Silpada, RB eyecare, 3 Dog Bakery and more. Shopping totes with “swag” will be donated by Savvy Interiors and various participating vendors. We will also feature guest speaker Cheri Kuptz who has a real heart for women, working in various and creative ways to convey the message that each woman is uniquely different and can learn to accept and love the person she was made to be.  We will feature a fashion show, DJ and the band Swivel and the Groove from 8:00-10:00. Desserts will be provided by Cute Cakes and Cold Stone Creamery (Rancho Bernardo location). The Diva charitable donation is only $20.00 per guest at tables of 8. Gifted and Talented Education Testing

Parents may request GATE testing for students in grades 2-7.  To request GATE testing for your child, complete a GATE Parent Questionnaire/Test Consent form online through the PUSD GATE webpage (http://www.powayusd.com/Depts/LSS/GATE/), or in your child’s school office. Requests for GATE Testing will only be taken until November 30, 2009.  If you have any questions regarding testing please contact Devora Garrison dgarrison@powayusd.com.
