I did not expect to be writing to you about the state budget picture for education so soon, but the past several months have changed our world. The new economic realities on Wall Street and around the world, and the impact for California , have dominated the news. Because tax revenues for the state of California have recently fallen short of projections by several billion dollars, the Governor and legislators are considering midyear budget cuts to education much like last year. Even for this school year, it is unclear how K-12 education would be impacted.

Welcome Back to Mesa Verde!
On behalf of Mesa Verde’s PTSA, I’d like to welcome you to the 2008-09 school year. We’re anticipating another exciting year filled with activities that will enrich our children’s school experience. We cannot accomplish this without your membership and volunteer support. Our new and improved website (thank you Kris Shetter!!) will help you to stay connected to PTSA, the activities and need for volunteers. It also addresses our goal of improving effective communication between school and home. Please let our webmaster know how we can make this site even more useful to you. You can find Membership and Volunteer forms on this website. If you haven’t returned them yet, please download, complete and return them to the MVMS office. Each of us has time, talent and/or treasure that, when shared with our school, go a long way in making Mesa Verde a wonderful learning environment. There are many volunteer opportunities available for you, whether it’s helping out weekly in the Library, chaperoning a school dance or helping with the 7th Grade History Faire next May. Please look at your calendars and see where you might be able to support our school. Thanks to those of you, who together, contributed over 5000 volunteer hours last year. I’m looking forward to working with you to help all of our students soar like Eagles!! Kathy Frost

Volunteers needed to work in the Student Store! Hours are Monday through Friday 11am to 1pm. For more information contact Delores Vallejo. Have you completed your Volunteer Clearances? A Megan's Law application and current TB test must be on file with PUSD to volunteer at any PUSD school. Questions? Check out the volunteer guidelines on our Volunteer page!
