BE VOLUNTEER READY!

Mesa Verde is a better place for our students because of you!   All Mesa Verde volunteers must comply with a few easy to follow requirements:

All Regular Volunteers Must Have:

  1. Megan’s Law Clearance
  2. Current TB test
  3. Volunteer badge
  4. Some may also need to be fingerprinted. See below.

What Is Megan’s Law and Why Do I Need It?
In 2003 PUSD determined that for the safety of students all regular volunteers must have their names cleared through the Megan’s Law database.  This database is the State of California sex offender list.  Click here to obtain a copy of this application  A “regular” volunteer is someone who is on campus once a month or more.  It is easy to fill out the form and be ready to volunteer when called!

What If I Did My Megan’s Law At Another School?

If your student was at another PUSD school you need to fill out a Megan's Law Transfer form and turn it in at the front office

What About TB Testing?

All regular volunteers must also have a current TB test on file.  TB testing is available through PUSD.  All tests are valid for four years.  Click here for the schedule. You must obtain a TB slip from the front desk to attend the PUSD clinics.  You may also see your own health provider to obtain the test.   Present your test results to the health technician when completed.

Who Needs to Be Fingerprinted?

If you are scheduled to volunteer in a situation where you will not be directly supervised, you will be told you need to be fingerprinted.  PUSD cannot accept fingerprinting done through other organizations.  Please see the front desk for a Level 2 form.

Don’t Forget to Sign In and Get A Badge
Volunteers must sign in at the office WHENEVER they are on campus for two reasons:

  1. Security – this helps us ensure that each adult on campus has the proper clearance to be there volunteering.
  2. Safety – in case of an emergency, we need to know where you are.

When you sign in, please remember to enter your volunteer hours in the column indicated in on the Sign-in Log.

Driving on Field Trips –

If you’d like to drive on classroom field trips, you will need to complete a form, available from the office, and return it to the office along with a copy of your driver’s license and insurance coverage.  The required minimum insurance coverage for public liability are as follows: Bodily Injury - $100,000/$300,000 per accident; Property Damage - $50,000 per accident; Medical Payment  - $5,000 per accident.

A word about privacy –

As a volunteer, you may see or hear confidential information about a student.  Please keep it confidential.  If other parents approach you about their student’s progress or behavior at school, please refer them to their student’s teacher.
