QUOTE OF THE WEEK
I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief
duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.

AMAZING TEACHER
On Saturday night, one of our very own teachers, Amanda Nobles, was
recognized for her achievement at the San Diego County Salute to Teachers
Awards. She was not only Poway Teacher of the Year but was also up for the
honor of San Diego County Teacher of the Year. Out of 26,000 public school
teachers in San Diego county Amanda was a finalist for the title of San
Diego County Teacher of the Year. This is an amazing honor and a tribute to
her amazing talents and skills. Congratulations Amanda!!! I hope you got a
chance to see the show. It was telecast live on Channel 4 and will be
rebroadcast this week.
FAMILY FITNESS NIGHT IS THIS THURSDAY
Come join us this Thursday from 6:30-8:00 for a fun and active evening for
the whole family.
EARTHQUAKE/DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
Safety is extremely important at MRES. This week we will be participating in
disaster awareness and preparedness activities. On Thursday we will be
conducting a full earthquake/disaster drill, which include search and rescue
teams. We are teaming with the fire department so that they may provide us
feedback on our response. In the event of an actual emergency, the Reunion
and Release station where parents may pick up their students will be located
in front of the school.
When the drills are in progress, you may experience difficulty in reaching
the school by phone. Given our focus this week, this might be a good time to
review your family safety procedures and evacuation routes as well. Please
visit the PUSD website (powayusd.com) for more information about home and
school safety.
FEDERAL SURVEY
Federal Surveys went home last week. We would appreciate your assistance in
completing and returning the form to your child's teacher by October 14th.
We must have a signed form from each student. Even if the form does not
pertain to your family, please sign the blue paper and return it to your
child's teacher.
DAD’S CLUB
Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 29 for the first Dad’s Club event
of the year. We are close to finalizing the evening. This fun event will
take place beginning at 6:00PM.
GATE TESTING
You may formally request GATE testing for your child by completing a GATE
Parent Questionnaire/Test Consent form online through the PUSD GATE webpage
