QUOTE OF THE WEEK
A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than
oneself.
~ Joseph Campbell
KINDERGARTEN UPDATE
I am thrilled to announce that we will be able to offer full day
kindergarten in each of the six kindergarten classes we will have next year.
Therefore, we will not be holding the lottery this week. PEPP will, however,
continue to be a half day program. I appreciate your patience over the last
few weeks as we sorted out the enrollment process.
KINDERGARTEN ASSESSMENTS
Don’t forget that Kindergarten assessments will take place this Monday and
Tuesday for all students who will be entering Kindergarten next school year.
All incoming Kindergartners should have scheduled a time for an assessment.
The assessments will help provide us a snapshot of your child’s skills,
introduce your child to one of our K teachers, and help us balance classes.
MULTIAGE 4TH AND 5TH GRADE CLASS FOR NEXT YEAR
As the school year is fast coming to a close I wanted to share with you an
exciting and important update. Next school year we will have a unique
opportunity to have a blended learning community comprised of fourth and
fifth grade students. This multiage 4th and 5th grade class will be taught
by Mrs. Watkins. We will be hosting a meeting on Wednesday, June 3 at 5:30
PM in C4 to discuss our procedures for developing this class, and provide an
opportunity for our parents to be involved in the process. One of the most
critical components of a multiage class is strong parental connection and
support.
MONARCH TV (MTV)
This Friday will be the final edition of the year of our Monarch TV show. We
will be airing the show in all classrooms and in the MPR for all parents who
would like to stay after Friday Flag and see the show. If you have not seen
a show, don’t miss out on the last opportunity of the year.
VOLUNTEER BREAKFAST
So much of our work at school depends on the generosity and support of our
parents and volunteers. We will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation
Breakfast on Friday, June 5th from 8:15 to 9:00 in the MPR to say thanks to
all of our volunteers that have made this year so successful. I am looking
forward to seeing you there!
STAFF/STUDENT SOFTBALL GAME
On Tuesday, June 9 many of our fabulous MRES staff will face off against our
impressive 5th grade students for a fun game of softball. I am looking
forward to a great time and an exciting game.
FIFTH GRADE PROMOTION
It is hard to believe that the time has almost arrived to say goodbye to our
fifth graders and send them on to middle school. Our 5th grade promotion
will take place on Wednesday, June 10 at 10:00 in the MPR. Cameras and lots
of tissues are a must to bring.
Dr. Rich Newman.
