COMPASS LEARNING
I am thrilled to share that our preschool students now have access to
Compass Learning. It is a specially designed program just for our preschool
students. The program is built around monthly themes. All of our students at
MRES from our youngest to our fifth graders now have access to this
wonderful program. Yeah!
KINDERGARTEN UPDATE
As we proceed forward with K/PEPP registration, I wanted to provide you with
the most up to date information in regards to Kindergarten for next year. We
just received very tentative, and not necessarily accurate, enrollment
projections for the coming year. These preliminary numbers lead us to
believe that, at best, there may be an opportunity to provide a small number
of all day kindergarten classes in 2009-2010. Please know that because the
enrollment information we received will likely change before the start of
school in August, we are simply sharing our best information to date as to
what we expect for kindergarten classes at MRES next year.
Due to the fact that facility space will continue to be a limiting factor
regarding the number of all day classes that can be accommodated at our
school next year, we will conduct a lottery to select the students whose
parents prefer an all day schedule for their child; by using a lottery
process, equal opportunity for all hoping to be selected will be ensured.
The following criteria will be used to create eligibility lists for the
lottery:
1. Students who live in MRES’s attendance area
2. Students who have siblings at our school
3. Children of MRES Elementary school employees
4. Children of PUSD employees
5. Students who live in PUSD’s attendance area
During the lottery process, we will exhaust all names for students who are
in category 1 for spaces that are available before we move forward to
selecting students from category 2 and so on. In addition, parents wishing
to have their child enroll in a full day K who were not chosen for a spot at
Monterey Ridge will be offered the option of attending a full day K class at
a nearby school that has room to accommodate new students.
KINDERGARTEN/PEPP INFORMATION MEETING
We will be hosting a K/PEPP parent meeting on Thursday, May 7 from 6:00-7:00
PM in the MPR to provide an opportunity to share information about our
school, meet the K/PEPP team and give an overview of our program.
Registration for Kindergarten and PEPP will begin on Wednesday, May 13 and
take place from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. PEPP registration will be on a first come
first serve basis, Registration will continue each day thereafter in the
office between the hours of 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
OPEN HOUSE
Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 21 for our annual Open House and Art
Show. Open House will take place from 6:00-7:00 PM and our Art Show will
occur from 5:30-7:30 in the MPR.
