COMPASS LEARNING – SUPER NEWS – A LICENSE FOR EVERY STUDENT
SUPER news to share! I am thrilled to share that we now have a license for
every student at MRES to use Compass Learning (CL). This is amazing given
that each license is approximately $1000 and we were granted the use of the
licenses at no cost. You are now welcome to have your child use CL anytime
on any day. Many of our classes are beginning to use CL as an integral part
of homework. We will continue to have our before and after school program
using CL and we will also make the program available throughout the summer.
We will soon be creating a preschool program as well. Yeah!
MATH MARATHON IS IN TWO WEEKS
The 1st ever MRES Math Marathon will take place on Friday, April 3. Each
grade level and classroom will have an assigned time to go into the MPR and
participate in the Math Marathon. This is one of the last FUNdraisers of the
year. We thought that an educational fundraiser turned into a FUNdraiser
would provide a unique opportunity for our students to learn, and to help
raise funds for school and classroom needs. PTA will match up to $7000 in
funds raised. Pledge sheets will be in the e-Packet this week.
STUDENT COUNCIL SPIRIT DAY
This Friday is Hawaiian dress up day.
KINDERGARTEN/PEPP REGISTRATION INFO
We are continuing to work out the details regarding Kindergarten next year.
While we are planning on implementing full day kindergarten next year it
will occur to the extent possible based on the space we have available on
our site. In an effort to provide as much clarity as possible I will
continue to update our website as details emerge and information becomes
more definitive. So please keep checking the link on the front of our home
page. Here are the most current details:
*We will be hosting a K parent meeting on Thursday, May 7 from 6:00-7:00 PM
to provide an opportunity to answer parent questions, share info about our
school and meet the K/PEPP team;
*Registration for Kindergarten and PEPP will begin on Wednesday, May 13. It
will take place from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m; Registration will continue each day
thereafter in the office between the hours of 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m;
*PEPP registration will be on a first come first serve basis;
*PEPP will continue to be a half day program; and
*Full day K will have a phase-in period. During the first three weeks of the
2009-2010 school year, Kindergartners will begin the day at the same time as
students in grades 1 -5, but will end after eating lunch. After that, K
students will attend full day.
