We are also in the process of scheduling a K orientation night. Please continue to check our website for more specific information.

REPORT CARDS/PROGRESS REPORTS
Trimester Two Progress Reports will be sent home today, Monday, March 9. We know that a child's report card can bring feelings of joy, excitement, and pride. It can also cause concern, frustration, and uncertainty. In either case, the reporting period marks a new beginning to set goals and reflect on past work habits, achievements, and hardships. Most important, it is a time for you to communicate with your children and determine a path for future academic enrichment and social-emotional growth. Regardless of the marks your child brings home, you should always first focus on positive aspects of the report.

FOUNDATION
FIRST ANNUAL MRES TALENT SHOW IS THIS WEDNESDAY

The first ever MRES Talent Show is this week. Over 150 students are involved in this SOLD OUT show. We have 59 acts comprised of singing, dancing, a magic show, a blind-folded piano player, karate, gymnastics, the LARGEST audience participation dance to the cha-cha slide in all of PUSD, original skits written and produced by our students, and musical performances. We also have a huge number of students and parents who have volunteered their time to this event! We will have a live paparazzi team on the red carpet for arrivals AND a backstage crew PLUS seven student MC Hosts. The venue at Westview High provides seating for 325 guests. We will have a closed circuit video system which will feed the show LIVE to our performers backstage on two screens so no one misses the show! We will be selling refreshments and flowers PLUS offering photography and other mementos.

FIRST ANNUAL MRES MATH MARATHON IS COMING
The 1st ever Math Marathon is coming to MRES at the end of this month! Students in PreK-5th grade will be tested on mastering grade appropriate math problems based on grade level standards. Why a Math Marathon? We thought that an educational fundraiser turned into a FUNdraiser would provide a unique opportunity for our students to learn, and to help raise funds for enrichment activities, instructional supplies, books and school and classroom needs. It is also a great way to reinforce those skills that students need to master on the STAR test. All students will receive a certificate for participation. PTA will match up to $7000 in funds raised. More information will be forthcoming.

PARENT BOOK CLUB
I hope you will join me on Friday, March 20 for a discussion of the book Positive Discipline. This will be a wonderful opportunity for us, as parents, to discuss the book and strategies we use successfully with out kids. Please join us (even if you have not read the book). I am very much looking forward to this next opportunity for us to share parenting stories and successes.

Dr. Rich Newman.
