Monarch Butterfly Day


At 9:30 AM on February 5, 2007, the stage was set for Monterey Ridge Elementary ~ PUSD's newest school ~ to be dedicated to the community of 4S Ranch, in San Diego.
 


Parents, community members, and District administrators enjoyed a warm February morning awaiting the students arrival.


Students prepared to enter the amphitheater through the center of the campus.


Mrs. Wardlow, the principal, began the program with introductions.


Student Council members led the Pledge of Allegiance.

There were speeches by the Principal, Mrs. Wardlow; PUSD Superintendent, Dr. Phillips; Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Collins; and PUSD School Board President, Mrs. Vanderveen.

Other School Board members (below, left) and the staff (below, right) listened attentively.


Mrs. Wardlow accepted donations from our business adopters, Wells Fargo Bank ...


and Jimbo's Natural Foods, both located in the new 4S Commons.


Monterey Ridge, the first solar energy school in the district, received the SIS award from
The Coalition of High Performing Schools, for being energy efficient.


The student body took part by singing "We Are The Children," led by Mrs. Einspar and Mr. Campos.

Monarch butterflies were released.


The multi-purpose room was festively decorated


with student art work for the reception.
