Mt. Carmel's SUN newspaper has a tradition of excelling stretching back to the 1980s. The SUN has been nationally-recognized for the quality of reporting and writing, as well as our photography and innovative layout. Our numerous awards have included honors from the following:

• San Diego County Journalism Education Association
• Southern California Journalism Education Association
• The National Scholastic Press Association
• The San Diego Fair
• The Union-Tribune Newspaper

In order to ensure the continuity of our success, staff writers must take Journalism 1 as a prerequisite to joining the staff, and photographers must learn their craft through the school's photo department. Published every three weeks, the SUN contains 16 full-size pages, four with full color. In addition, the SUN produces a second-to-none website at www.mcsun.org.

The SUN is a student run publication which depends on advertising for most of our revenue. Please consider purchasing an ad, because we reach a wide audience of students, staff, and the greater community. Our rates are very resonable.
