- Jobs for the Future
Work is a foundation of our society. But what it takes to get ahead is
changing. And the nation's educational systems have been slow to respond. Two
barriers threaten progress toward the promise of prosperity: the mismatch between
the skills people have and those they need to succeed, and rising income inequality.
For many, inadequate skills represent serious barriers to achieving economic
self-sufficiency. At Jobs for the Future, we believe that his is a challenge to the fabric
of the American commonwealth. It demands reform along three dimensions:
Impact: making a real difference in people's lives; Sustainability: producing
change that lasts; and Scale: moving models to the mainstream.
