The ThinkQuest Internet Challenge is an international program for students ages 12 through
19 that encourages them to use the Internet to create information-rich Web-based
educational tools and materials. Students form teams with their colleagues from around the
world and are mentored by teachers or other adult coaches. In the running for scholarships
and awards totaling more than $1 million, student participants learn collaboration,
leadership and critical thinking skills that help raise their level of education and
technological expertise. Awards are handed out across five categories: Arts &
Literature, Science & Mathematics, Social Sciences, Sports & Health and
Interdisciplinary. Finalists travel to the ThinkQuest Awards Weekend where they compete
for the challenges top prizes.
M-[art]²-ial!
Welcome to M-[art]²-ial! For hundreds and thousands of years,
people have practiced the martial arts. Once used in actual combat, they
exist today as some of the most exciting and beneficial sports. As our name
M-[art]²-ial implies, the martial arts are an absolute experience for not
only the body, but also the mind and spirit. This website uniquely focuses
on how the martial arts benefit students and their learning. This site
was created by Julie Yen, a MCHS junior; Joris Kluivers from the
Netherlands; and Lee Keng Siang from Singapore. Coaches are MCHS
alumnus Helen Cheng, Mrs. Rosemary Anderson, and Hylke Dijkstra
(Netherlands). The website was recently submitted for judging
and the finalists will be announced later this year.
The
Art of Photography
This site is devoted to providing the basics of black and white
photography to photography enthusiasts around the world. It begins with the
history of photography, then covers the basic anatomy and operation of a
camera. Learn how to properly print and alter your photographs, then discuss
photography and share pictures of your own with others. This site was
created by three MCHS students: seniors
Erin Chapman and Tanya Markoff and junior Usha Chilukuri . The
coaches are Mr. Bjorkquist and Mr. Hizal.
The site was recently submitted for judging;
the finalists will be announced in December.
Sighting
the First Sense: seeing is believing!
VISION — it is a truly noteworthy element. In fact, of the five senses, sight ranks as
the most important. But what is it about sight that makes it the most crucial sense?
Look no further for the answer to this question, as you have come to the right place:
Sighting the First Sense - Seeing is Believing! The goal of this site is to provide a
breadth of continually growing information related to sight within a simple, fun, and
interactive environment. From the pages of content to the enticing interactive
demonstrations, this site acts as a valuable and unique resource for those in pursuit of
information pertaining to vision. Enjoy your visit, and remember — seeing is believing!

of Nature
They have the power to shake the universe. They helped form the earth beneath our feet. They can bring both blessings and devastation. No human can control
them. No man can fully comprehend their awesome majesty. No year since the
beginning of time has the earth failed to witness their coming. Natural disasters
can happen at any time or place. They can bring sorrow, but they can also teach
important lessons about who we are, what is important to us, and what joys life
can hold for every human being. This site was created by
students: Emily Boyd (Australia), Helen Chen (MCHS 2000 graduate), Mohamed
El-Zohairy (Egypt), and coached by Jason Anderson
(1999 MCHS graduate), Rosemary Anderson (United States),
and Cathy Donnelly (Australia).

in Action
Who are the great heroes of the 20th Century?
Discover the meaning of Heroism and find the Hero inside yourself.
Learn how to take action to make a difference in the lives of others. "Heroism in Action" was created by three diverse students from Australia, Italy and United
States: Jonathan Anderson (MCHS 2000 graduate), Alice Barnes from Australia in the State of Victoria,
and Niccolò Dalla Palmafrom Milan (Italy). Coaches included MCHS 1999
graduate Jason Anderson.
Laughing
Out Loud to Good Health
You may be familiar with the old saying, "Laughter is the Best Medicine." Do you
believe it? Do you think that laughing has the potential to improve your health? Well,
that is what our site, Laughing Out Loud to Good Health, is about. We examine what humor
and laughter is, what causes something to be humorous and the psychological and physical
benefits of laughing. Constructed by Jason Anderson (MCHS '99 Grad) Lorien
Miller (Cape Town, South Africa), and Elizabeth Cowling (Ballarat, Victoria). Sports & Health Gold Winner.
ES2000 - Endangered
Species of the Next Millennium
Hi and welcome to Endangered Species 2000! Currently, there are over 24,000 species that
are endangered or threatened by human activities. Unless we do something quickly, they
will disappear
forever. Without them, Earth's ecosystem may very well crumble. By endangering wildlife,
we are endangering ourselves. Constructed by Helen Cheng (MCHS senior), Galvin Sng
(Singapore), and Zane Amiralis (The Netherlands). Social

Kingdoms Underwater
Prepare to learn about corals as you navigate our page. This site is designed to start out
relatively simple. As you progress further on, more topics and details will be covered. By
finally making your way to through the entire site, you will have mastered a knowledge of
corals matched by few. Constructed by Morgan Chen (leader) - USA , Chow Chee Hao -
Singapore, and Ania Zaremba - Poland.
Butterflies On the
Wings Of Freedom
Butterflies are fascinating animals. Their whole life is a life of changes. This chapter
offers basic information about a butterfly's life, its nourishment and predators. The ways
of protection from predators are described as well as the purpose of butterflies' colorful
patterns. Learn about the relationship between buterflies and humans and how to create a
garden that attracts butterflies. Be astonished at the long journey of the migrating
Monarch butterfly and view a short film about the extraordinary way a Geometer caterpillar
moves. Constructed by Rhomel Chinsio (MCHS junior), Stefanie Jegelka
(Aichwald, Germany), and Puey Wi Tan (Singapore).
