Background notes are published by the US State Department. They provide current
information on geographic entities and international organizations. They are updated
periodically and provide information such as: geography, people, government, economy,
people, history, government, political conditions, foreign relations, travel and business
information.

The World Factbook is prepared by the Central Intelligence Agency. Provides current
information on countries including: location, map, flag, climate, geography, resources,
environment, people, government, economy, transportation, communication and defense.

A continuing series of books prepared by the Federal Research Division of the Library of
