Election Packet

 

 

POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

 

Elected Positions:

President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer

 

Appointed Positions:

Commissioners of School Spirit(2), Commissioners of Activities(2), Commissioners of Recognition(2), Commissioners of Lunch Sales(2), Commissioners of Publicity (2), 8th Grade Cabinet Representatives(2), 7th Grade Cabinet Representatives(2), Digital Media Representatives(2)

 

  

Elected Positions:

Must be elected by student body. Will give a 1-3 minute speech via Meadowbrook News

 

President: Runs all weekly and monthly general meetings; oversees all activities and actions in ASB; required to do all public speaking engagements, including weekly news segment. Open to 8th Graders only. Must have at least 1 year experience in ASB serving on council or as a classroom representative.

 

Vice-President: Assists president and substitutes when president is absent; helps oversee all activities. Must have at least 1 year experience in ASB serving on council or as a classroom representative.

 

Secretary: Records minutes during all meetings; keeps all records

 

Treasurer: Signs all financial forms; reports on expenditures and finances; oversees overall budget for ASB

 

Appointed Positions:

Must be interviewed and appointed by a committee composed of students and staff.

 

Commissioner of Activities (2 students): Plans all dances & lunch activities; In charge of music Fridays

 

Commissioner of School Spirit (2 students): Plans all spirit days & lunch activities

 

Commissioner of Publicity (2 students): In charge of all publicity for Meadowbrook including posters, announcements, and works in conjunction with Digital Media Reps

 

Commissioner of Lunch Sales (2 students): Organizes student store; in charge of selecting and ordering new merchandise; organizes sales of dance tickets, and any holiday grams

 

Commissioner of Recognition (2 students): Plans GPA Reward events, teacher/staff appreciation, assist with Character Card drawings, and any other recognition

 

7th Grade Cabinet Representatives (at least 2 students): Assists other commissioners; in charge of promoting ASB events with classmates and helps to include 6th grade class; works together with 8th Grade Cabinet Reps to plan community service events

 

8th Grade Cabinet Representatives (at least 2 students): Plans 8th Grade Promotion Party, in charge of promoting ASB events with classmates, works together with 7th Grade Cabinet Reps to plan community service events

 

Digital Media Representatives (2 students): ***Will be required to take Video Production elective class. Ensures that ASB events are covered in MB News every week, in charge of getting Class President on MB News, works with Commissioners of Publicity

 

 

IMPORTANT DATES:

 

Tuesday, May 5th:        Packets first available to interested students

 

Wednesday, May 13th:     All forms due to Mr. Gizzo (room 902) by 2:30pm No late forms accepted!

 

Monday, May 18th:        Eligible candidates notified

 

 

Tuesday, May 26th:       Candidates may post flyers/posters around campus (rules will be given)

 

Tuesday, May 26th:       Candidate speeches are due to Mr. Gizzo, Room 902, for approval

 

Wednesday, May 27th:     Mandatory meeting for all candidates running for Elected positions, 2:24-3:24 Room 508.

                        Speeches will be filmed.

 

May 18 – June 5:        Interviews for Appointed positions

 

Tuesday, June 2nd:       Election Speeches & Elections! This will be televised via Meadowbrook News

 

Thursday, June 4th:      Announcement of MBMS Elected Cabinet by Thursday!
