Highland Ranch opened in September of 1992 as the 17th elementary school in the Poway Unified School District. We serve the planned communities of Rancho Bernardo and Carmel Mountain. A diverse population of ethnic groups enriches our school. Currently we have an enrollment of 700 students with a certificated staff of 33 teachers.

We received the honor of "California Distinguished School" for 1994 -1995. We instill a commitment to life-long learning and high achievement. To prepare students for the future we believe curriculum must be dynamic and we strive to engage students in learning through discovery.

Anita Watson, principal of Highland Ranch, encourages all parents to be actively involved in their child's school experience. Parents can become involved by joining the PTA and the Technology Foundation, volunteering in their child's classroom, supervising field trips, or working in our "J Room". By working together we can provide an outstanding educational program for all students.
