GRES Week of May 20th

Good evening, this is Jeannie Dickinson, principal at Garden Road.

As you know, school funding has been unreliable for many years, and Garden Road’s funding for the 2013-2014 year has recently become more precarious.  For the past four years we have been fortunate to receive about $100,000 in Title I funding to pay for a counselor two days a week and for Impact teachers at each grade level.  We just learned that next year we will only receive $22,000 in Title I funding and will no longer be a Title I school the following year..

I have scheduled a Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, May 22nd at 6:00PM in the MPR to share information about how these changes will impact your children. We will also be discussing the creation of a Foundation at Garden Road. There will be a panel of foundation members from other schools to answer questions and a light dinner will be provided.  I encourage you to join us.

Also, just a reminder that in one week, on Monday, May 27th, is the Memorial Day Holiday, and there will be no school.
