Red Ribbon Week

Hello Deer Canyon!

Just a friendly reminder for all our creative Deer Canyon students...

The deadline for the Red Ribbon Week poster contest is this Friday, October 10th! Come up with a cool design and slogan to show why it's smart to be drug-free!

As most of you already know, Red Ribbon Week got its start in 1985 when DEA Agent Enrique Camarena lost his life in the line of duty. In his memory, students in his hometown of San Diego began wearing red ribbons to take a stand against drug use. That message and its symbol -- the red ribbon -- spread rapidly throughout the United States. Red Ribbon Week has become a national event that promotes early education about the dangerous consequences of substance abuse.

From October 20th through 24th, Deer Canyon students will celebrate their healthy, drug-free lives with spirit days, activities, and an awesome assembly. We want to display YOUR poster with our decorations! Your poster should be at least 12 X 18 in size, and prizes will be given for the most creative entries.

Please turn your Red Ribbon posters into the Deer Canyon office by Friday, October 10th.

Thank you!
