We offer our program on all school days (including minimum days). On non-school days such as professional growth days or holidays, there is no program.
Registration: Our registration forms were part of the Back to School Registration process. We welcome new students throughout the year as space permits. We currently have space in our morning program, while our after-noon program is nearly full.

School Year 2009-2010
The ASES (After-school Safety and Education) Program is free and provides a fun, safe, stimulating environment for students. We provide snacks free to all participating students (according to State guidelines), and provide a variety of activities for students.
Morning Program
Our morning program opens at 6:00am daily. We ensure a safe, fun environment in the gym, with activities including basketball, ping-pong, board games, etc. We offer a (free) breakfast to all students. (Menu)
In accordance with the intent of the state legislation that provides the funding for the Poway ASES program, we require that students attend at least three days a week for one half the program hours. Therefore, we need students to sign-in by 6:50 daily (7:30 on Monday). We regret that we can not provide supervision for Monday mornings only.
Afternoon Program
Our program begins at 2:30, directly after BMMS dismissal. Our first hour of the program is generally a homework time, with support from BMMS teachers and staff, YMCA staff, and library availability. Student2Student tutoring also takes place in our library during this time. Our Student 2student tutoring offers peer tutoring to the students of BMMS. To learn more, please contact our Counseling Office at (858) 484-1300 ext. 3917 or Mrs. Moore at (858)484-1300 ext. 3047. (Application, click here).
From 3:30 or so, until 4pm, students relax and enjoy a snack. At 4pm, students may select from a variety of activities and clubs. We offer sports opportunities daily, as well as crafts, arts, and extended homework time in the library.
From 5:15 until 6pm, our game room and computer lab are available for students to enjoy.
September Calendar and Newsletter
We have located our student sign-out table in the front of the school. Parents are welcome to visit our program; we request that families check in with ASES/YMCA staff as they enter campus.
School Rules: Our ASES program is an extension of Black Mountain Middle School, therefore school rules apply during our program. We work with students and families to ensure that our program is a safe, fun environment for all participants.
Students who remain on campus after 2:30 (3:30 for Academy students) must be involved in one of the scheduled activities or with a teacher or staff member. Students may not leave campus and then return unless accompanied by a parent/guardian.
