INTRODUCTION

This Staff Handbook compiles and simplifies some of the rules and responsibilities under which school personnel must function.  The rules provide parameters for staff and students that, hopefully, will result in improved structure and organization in the educational process.

Some of the regulations are generated by State Law or District Policies and procedures.  Others are determined by the school staff in order to provide solutions for perceived needs.

Nondiscrimination Statement

All school programs and activities shall be free from discrimination with respect to gender, race, color, religion, national origin, ethnic group, marital or parental status, and physical or mental disability.

Title IX

The provisions of Federal Law, Title IX, require that we provide equal opportunities for both sexes in all educational programs and activities.  All elective programs and clubs must be open to both sexes.  Teachers should be aware of sexist language in publications and textbooks and attempt to eliminate it whenever possible.  If a student feels there is discrimination because of sex, a grievance may be filed at the school and District level.  All teachers are responsible for knowing the law and the District policy covering Title IX.
